History of internet advertising

In the recent times, internet advertising has evolved as a very effective tool and is being used by many of the companies to promote their products and service. If we have a look at the history of internet advertising then we’ll notice it has evolved with time and has become one of the fastest and an effective way by which the companies reach out to the target clients. As per the history of internet advertising, initially emails were used for promoting the companies. Thereafter banner ads were introduced in the 1990’s. The ads appeared on the top of the page and people could double click on it and are transferred to the advertised website.

In 2000s, Google introduced adwords which are contextual and were found to be more effective in promoting the websites. They introduced the PPC and PPI ads where they made advertisers focus on the relevance of the ads. This helps in bringing relevant traffic to the website. In the recent times, the focus is on social media marketing which has turned out to be quite successful in promoting one’s website. When we look at the history of internet advertising, we see how it has evolved and with time blogs, articles and other tools have also been introduced that are effective in promoting the websites.
